91 740 wagon with lt1 from nevada
The short story.......My 96 impala ss of 14 years (of mine) was wrecked and totalled by a friend. The car wasnt covered, it was his fault, and I got burned out of my impala. So after awhile I decided it would be a good idea to replace the impalla. I had already completely stripped the remains from the impala. So now I have a 740 wagon ( i have kids) that is way better then the impala in every way. I build engines and race cars and hotrods for a living, mostly lsx based stuff. The idea on the wagon was to keep the investment way way way down. And I did. I ve been doing this since before the lt1 days ( i started with turbo buicks) and still play with lt1s. Before the impala was totalled, it was slated for a 383 lt1 turbo engine, that is already to go. So now that the volvo is basically a great car, I think Ill swap in the spare.....that was for the impala.
Its a 383, mild, mild cam, 9.5 to 1 lightly ported heads, 76 mm turbo. Should make 550 to 600 on 91 pretty easy for daily use.
oh, and the reason I came on the forum is to see if anyone puts 275 40 17s on.....so ill get searching....

Hi, just joined, hoping to avoid junking my 98 cross country. The transmission seems to have gone. I lost reverse on Thurs am. So the question is: How do I know its hopeless? Would adding a jug of trans. fluid be enough to get it rolling again? In the past few months I have poured several thousand into repairs. Then this! I am offering it for parts if a simple fluid is not enough.....
