'94 850 owner from Argentina
Hi all, my name is Leo. I'm originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina but moved a few years ago to Orlando, FL. I bought almost 10 years ago a '94 850 base trim and used rather scarcely while I was living there, mostly weekends. After I moved to the states I left the car to my dad and he used it even less than me. Neither of us really wanted to, but after sitting for a long while we decided to sell it since it wasn't being used and maintaining an imported car is very expensive in Argentina (doesn't matter how old it is).
A couple of months ago, my dad was driving it to the dealership and halfway to it threw a rod (that's the translation I found in English, in Spanish would be 'fundió una biela'). Of course we couldn't sell the car. The part prices back home are a lot more expensive than the labor.
My idea is to buy the parts here in the states and ship them back home so it can be fixed. I'll post another thread later with specifics and hopefully with your help we'll be able to figure this out.
Thanks in advance,
Leo

ˇBienvenido a los foros. I'm sorry my friend but the prognosis is not good. Bent rods are usually the result of the engine hydro-locking and that means a catastrophic failure has resulted from a head gasket failure and coolant has leaked into the combustion chamber. This is a major repair and the crankshaft may be damaged as well.
