Default Alternator issues

Hi I just bought a 1990 Volvo 240 wagon as a project im having some charging issues my battery light does not come on in key position 2 and I have a brand new alternator and battery everything is hooked up correctly the exciter wire has no voltage in on position

did you check fuses?

Yes I did I did not have any blown, when I replaced alternator previous owner worked on it and had ground on top of d+ im guessing something has shorted cause now I have no voltage at b+ or d+
