My 2019 tailgate won’t open using my key fob, manual method (inside the car), using sensors, or by trying to open using the handle. It’s asking for a PIN to unlock my tailgate. This came out of nowhere, I’ve never had this issue before after 4 years of ownership!
I do have the check engine light on, which I’ve been told is a known issue (I’ve had it serviced but they were unable to turn it off).
I can’t find anything online to help. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Had the same exact thing happen to me. Was cleaning the car and accidentally turned on the private locking.

Unfortunately, this is a dealer trip or you need VIDA. Unless you know the master pin you are SOL.

 

wonder if you can call the dealer, provide the VIN and some proof of ownership so they can provide the PIN. In the past many would do that for forgotten radio codes (another of those great security ideas).

 

This pin is something you set when you get the car. It’s really not an anti-theft code like a traditional radio used to have.

I tried everything and you physically must connect the car to VIDA to reset it. There appearently is no other way according to the dealer.
