Hi Volvo Forum, I just purchased a 97 Volvo 850 last week because of a few great buyer guides on this forum.

I avoided a near disaster when I almost purchased a 2000 wagon. I didn't want to get it checked out by a mechanic but my wife pressed. Turned out that it had all kinds of problems. The computers weren't talking to the central computer, the front spindles needed to be replaced, the motor mounts were cracked, etc.

We waited for the right one and found her, a '97 850, non-turbo, 110,000 miles, tan leather interior, body is 8/10 with a couple dings, interior is 9/10 after some elbow grease. Pretty color though, right?

Unfortunately I got her home and it started with an intermediate ABS light, which, from what I ready is no big deal once a get the soldering iron out.

Then yesterday the check engine light came on so I'm going to need to get a code scanner here pretty quick and figure that one out.

Heck, I seen one of those center pieces today in the junk yard just lying on a 850. LOL
