My son's XC90 driver's side door does not close. The latching mechanism just spits the door out. The only way to close it is to hold the door closed and engage the lock manually. The door latch seems to work when I fiddle with it while it is open, and sometimes ot does engage right, but i fails about 80% of the time.

Well, now it is the opposite. The door does not open once it is closed. When inside the car, i need to roll down the window and open the door from the outside. Again, nothing looks wrong with anything, nd things appear to work as they should when opening and closing the door with the door open.
