Default e-break adjustment

I am new to this site, I have2001 C70 conv. I bought it 2 years ago to replace a sport Benz in the snow. The Volvo takes the snow with snow tires likea champ. I changed my pads all around last fall, and now my e-break is not holding. Can I adjust the e-break or do I have to change the shoes. They do not grind at all, they just don't grab now. How do I adjust them? I also need to know how to shut off the service soon light, the boys Valvoline have no clue...

Default RE: e-break adjustment

Hi Dav,

Greetings from Yokohama, Japan.

As I'm an 850 driver, I don't have much knowledge on C70. However, in general parking brake shoes for rear discs should last a very long time and I doubt thatthey need new shoes. I believe it only needs adjustment but without a manual I couldn't tell you the procedure. In the case of 850, adjusting the adjuster nut (bolt) at the lever alone is not enough, you have to adjust the shoes manually.

As for the service light, I assume it has to be turned off at the dealer, unless a decentOBD-II scanner can do the job. Check with a local auto parts shop that offer free diagnosis, such as AutoZone.

Try posting the same question in the C70 section, people there would be able to help you better than I could. Also, if you plan to keep the car for more than a year, it may not be a bad idea toinvest in a generic manual (Haynes, Chilton, etc...).

Sorry I couldn't help you much.
