Cool ErnisR with V50

Hey, fellas!

I'm from Lithuania, joined this forum, because in my country there is no normal discusions about Volvos or even a cars. Everyone just "raging" and are not friendly or helpful, just trying to be "smarter" then others and that's it. So, I thinked "why not to try international forums?" .

Anyway, I'm driving V50 2009 with 1.6 DRIVe about 2-3 years. Before that I had Peugeot 306, before that - old VW Passat and 1st car was Audi80 B4. So, Volvo is best fit me .

Also, right now I'm thinking to search for an cheaper Volvo for a tuning hobby. But don't know where and what to look. I don't want to pick rare or expensive car, because I'm new with mechanics and don't know many things so I want to learn. In that case I don't want to spend many money for expensive cars repair, or if something goes wrong and if I will have rare car so it will be harded to find a donor for it.

So, if someone will advice in here what models I should search for it - would be great. Also as I understand gas would be better for tuning instead of diesel?

Or maybe I need to create a thread in other topic?

And I'm glad that I joined this forum, can't wait to start my hobby .

My first choice would be a 98-2000 C70 coupe with the high pressure turbo, my second would be a S40 T4 (never came to the States sorry to say. ) I'd stay away from diesels for a tuning project as there's not a lot of upside and the tuner parts are harder to come by. If you can find a manual transmission then you can aim for 50%+ gains in HP without worrying about the transmission.

The T4 is a high pressure turbo four cylinder with ~ 200 HP, which is on par with the VW GTIs. Its known to be a very stout motor capable of handling 15 PSI boost all day if you use a MBC or a tune. The S40 is fairly light and nimble and you can drop in lowering springs / coil overs etc.
