Well, my last Volkswagen decided it was a good time to die, which with all the Volkswagens I've ever had that means it's drivable but not safe, and aneurysm-inducing expensive to repair. I'd had enough. Looking around on Craigslist, we found a gold 1990 Volvo 240 DL with 187K on the odometer for the price of a paycheck, and because my wife is pretty good with our finances, we bought it without too much pain. Now, it's a 1990 that hasn't been babied, but the engine has been taken care of. That means weird wiring fixes, broken plastic bits, and some buttons that don't light up, but the engine and transmission are strong. That means we can reliably get to work or grocery store and back, and that's all I need. I'll need help getting all the "little things" taken care of, but that's for further threads.
