Talking First Volvo - S40 T4

Hi guys,

My name is "Joe". I'm 25 years old and I work as a Systems Engineer. I was raised in Cornwall, but currently live in Oxfordshire with my fiancée.

I've spent the past several months looking for a new car after of someone wrote-off my last car (MG ZS with 40k miles) while I was stationary in queue. I wanted something that was reliable and practical, but also a bit different. I've always like the idea of owning a bit of a Q-car, so when I stumbled across this T4 with 100k miles it seemed the obvious choice.

After doing some research, I decided to meet the owner (really nice guy!) and take the car for a drive. I was happy with what I saw - It drove well, everything worked (even the heated seats and headlamp washers!) and there was a huge chunk of paperwork. So, we settled on a price and I took it away.

That was last Sunday and I've been driving to work with a smile on my face all week. I'm still surprised by how much it refuses to back off through the gears.

Here are some pictures of "Hobbes". You'd never buy a car in this colour, but it has grown on me and I actually quite like it now. The best reaction was from my fiancée, "That colour is horrible, but I like it".

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone on the forum. This place has loads of valuable information that has been very useful to me while looking for a T4.

Nice. Strange color but it seems to work.

Welcome to the forum.
