Default greetings!

I'm new to forums soI hope I do this right. Salutaionsto all.I live in SanFrancisco andrecently resigned from aservice advisor position at a Bay Area Mercedes Benz dealership to persue another interest. I own a early production (May/2000) silver 2001 v70t5 with just over 85,000mi on the clock. I bought the carfrom volvo when Iworked for one of their vendors, an event management company. The car wasusedforprint mediaand loaned to Northern California journalists for reviews. At about 6500 miles, volvo removes the cars from service and sells them, before they get too beat-up. These cars have never been titled;they get cleaned up, serviced, have the remainding factory warranty-plus extended V.I.P. warrranty, and are actioned off, or soldto employeeswith special pricing consideration. They only had to ask me once if I was interested in buying it.I was never a great Volvo fan untilmy son was bornabout nine years ago.I tried to assure mywife that my beloved Yamaha GTS 1000did everything well: smooth, comfy ride, windsheild, cargo bags, heck it even had A.B.S. Butshe manfully pointed-out it had no place to strap a carseat, like the Odessey.I refusedthenotion ofdriving a mini van,and I didn't need a suv.You can guess the rest. The v70 struck me as theslickest looking wagon on the market. (It still looks good.)Plus itwas well laid out and comfortable. TheHU-803 with subwoofer merely sealed the deal. Being an early production car it was a bit problematicat first, but most of the bugs were worked out by about15k.It has been essentially a good carfor many miles. It's just out of extened warranty now. At about 20k, it developed a minor but very irritating problemthelocal dealers here could not work out (stating the car was "operating as designed").Afterreplacing the belt and tensioner at75k, the same issue got progressively worse. Now it's driving me mad. I hope to get some insight onthat issuehere. If not, I'm seriously thinking ofreplacing the car...with another Volvo, of course-even if it means paying full retail.I willfurther search the site before posting my problemin detail (it'srelated to engine vibration felt in cabin at low rpm). But I did want say I am very impressed by the level of technical knowledge and information provided on this site. Thank you all for your time and dedication. I hope I can recipricatewithsome inforelating to my experiances with v70t5.

Welcome. Like you I've always thought the Volvo's were the best looking wagons on the market. Hope you get your problem worked out.

Hello Fabo,

Delayed welcome.

I'm glad you found us, and I hope you find this forum helpful.

The majority of technical support comes from one person; Moderator Tech. Tech's expertise on Volvos & helpful attitude are unparalleled. I try my best too, but I do suck once a while.

I hope you've posted the question in the V70 forum. I'm an 850 driver and am not privy to the V70s, even though the basic mechanism seems to have been shared.

Best of luck to you,

JPN
