Greetings
Dear All,
Hello, I am glad to find a forum for Volvo.
I am originally from Yokohama, Japan and am currently working at O'Hare airport as an airframe & powerplant mechanic.
I've been working on my Volvo for the last 3 months or so, and feeling that the commercially available manuals are no good, as they often omit the most critical information (effective methods, I should say). I've been learning how to work on Volvo pretty much on my own, and use Hynes manual as a torque guide only. But there are times when I need advice from those who have expertise.
My Volvo is 1994 850 Turbo T5 sedan automatic, and has 143,000 miles on it. As far as the market value goes, it isn't worth fixing, but I decided to fix it because the engine & xmission are still running smooth & quiet, and the body is in great condition, hard to believe the car is 12 years old. The previous owner didn't take good care of the car, so I pretty much had to remanufacture the car. As Volvo seems to use good-grade steel, the body is heavy and it seems to put so much stress on the front-end. I was once stranded too due to alternator failure, but I still like this car.
Anyway, nice to meet you.
Sincerely,
JPN
