Hello
Welcome, I hope you find the forum helpful.
Be sure to follow scheduled maintenance for your S40, and make sure that the timing belt & related components get changed at every 70,000 miles/5 years, regardless of what the owner's manual states (even if the manual tells you to change it at every 100,000 miles, do it at every 70,000 miles; there is a good reason for it; read Moderator Tech's post in each forum, pinned at the top).

Thanks for the tip. I bought the car used 2.5 years ago, with 69,000 miles on it (now has 87,000), and someone hadn't taken care of it. I had the 60,000 mile service and 75,000 mile service done, change oil w/ful synthetic every 5k, have had the trans flushed twice in two years, replaced plug wires, battery, vaccum hoses, dash and radio lights, cooling hoses, ingintion coils, serpentine belt, brakes done both front and back, new tires, and a couple of other things that escape me. I plan to have a tune-up at 90,000. The timing belt has looked good each time, but I'll check with my mechanic on Monday. Thank you again.
