LPT means Low Pressure Turbo.
ETM mean Electronic Throttle Moduel. Which means your throttle body. In the 1999 models they made them electronic. The light on the dash will say ETS when it comes on meaning Electronic Throttle System.
To re-state this you do have an ETM, so I would look into if it has been replaced. If not wait till the ETS light comes on and then replace it, but it will cost around $1,000 and only Volvo can replace it.
LPT just means Low Pressure Turbo, and that means your not making much boost. Around 5-7 PSI max.

no im not, i dont have EMT display on my dash, dont know is this makes a difference, it the second half of year UK issue model making it V plates not P. i think volvo made alto of changes to the s40 from pervious model in the secound half of 1999?
Ok well in any event LPT has nothing to do with the ETM. EMT you mean ETM and or ETS. And are you positive you do not have an idiot light that says ETS on the dash? Look in your manual for the car and check.
