Hello
I am not new to the ownership of volvos and have had 2 before the current brace.
My first was a 1978 740 Estate, rusty to the point of big holes where there should have been metal. But 100% reliable had it for two years before the exhaust fell off and I could not afford the price of a new one.
2nd was a 740 Estate of 1988 vintage, still ahve it but it is off the road and is being used as a training toy for my son, who wants to be a mechanic, I cannot think of a better car for him to cut his teath on.
3rd a 1994 850 saloon in green (alt 2) I found in Wales via Ebay only a 2 litre enine with the auto box but it is good to drive and returns good MPG on a run.
4th a 1993 850 Estate in bright red (alt 1), once again on Ebay, but this time from Canvey Island. It has the 5 speed manual box. When I bougght it te engine was a bit noisy so I checked the oil when the warning lamp came on and had to put 5 litres of oil into the sump. The engine runs well now and is a quiet as the auto. It does, however, say a lot about Volvo engineering in that most engines would have blown.
So at the moment I have 2 850's and use them both regularly and enjoy he differances between auto and manual. Nice to have the choice
