hello to all
Hi, I am looking to purchase a 2002 v70 xc with 116000 km(72,000 mi.) It has been dealer serviced since new and owned by one of the most meticulous persons I know. I have not yet investigated the transmission issue or what if anything has been done to it. Should I be concerned or will the dealer have done any upgrades to it already? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

what is "the transmission issue"? If its been dealer serviced, the owner should have access to provide you the full maintenance history (ie timing belts, other major repairs etc). Not sure what you mean by "will the dealer have done any upgrades to it already" - The maintenance history can tell you what faults have been diagnosed, any software updates or replacement parts installed, recall notices or maintenance bulletins with specific advise. If the car has a problem today, then you need to get a tech to assess and quote the repair (or see if this is a repair you can do on your own) to factor into your offer price.

Hello, thanks for the reply. I should have been more precise in my question. There is no transmission issue with this car at the present time. I have read that the 2001 and 2002 have a common problem with the trans clunking etc leading to repair/replacement outcomes. I did talk to the service manager at the Volvo dealer where the owner had his service work done. All the transmission "flashing" has been done that shifts the transmission more smoothly. I guess my question is should I still be concerned about the tranny having issues in the future? Thanks again for your time.
