hello everyone
Another new person for ya on this website. I have just bought my wife a 1993 850 GLT. The car has 134000 on it and it really runs nice no complaints yet. Is there anything anyone can tell me about this car that I need to be aware of. Happy to be aboard the volvo family

Hello Jay,
Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it helpful & enjoyable.
The following page may be a good place to start; my posts indicate frequently serviced items on the 850:

Be sure that the timing belt has been replaced at 120,000 miles. If not, have done asap because if this belt snaps while the engine is running, that's the end of the engine. Service interval for '93 850 is every 60,000 miles or 5 years. Also, check to see if other timing belt-related components (idler pulley, tensioner pulley & hydraulic tensioner) have been done at 120,000 miles. I myself replace those parts at every other belt replacement. The water pump does not need periodic replacement, unless it's leaking.
When servicing a Volvo, insist that the shop use OEM parts. Also, I would either go to the dealer (I know they want $$$ and try to sell you unnecessary parts & services, if theythink you're novice) or independent shops that specialise in Swedish/European makes.
I wish you the best of luck!
