Hello there.
Although I've been an owner of a Volvo, I am a big fan of the 240 and I'm having a hard time not drooling over them. I've even tossed around the idea of selling my '99 Saturn SL2 and using the $ to find an '89-'93 240 and use the rest to pay off some bills. But my car only has 86k miles, and has given me no trouble in the 3 years that I've owned it so I'm wondering if maybe I should leave well enough alone. Based on your experience with Volvos, what would you do ? Thanks.

Thanks for the inspiration. My wife thinks I'll kick myself if I ever sell the Saturn, it's lightly modded (intake, muffler, eibachs springs, STB, etc..) And I've read that the 240's arent the fastest thing out there, but for some reason I am drawn to them anyway. Is it really that slow, can they at least keep up with traffic and get up hill? I live in the mountains in Northern CA.

Having never had one, could you tell me how good/bad is the acceleration on a stock '86-'93 240 ? I don't expect it to be as zippy as my Saturn, but if it's decent enough to keep up with traffic and hold 70mph or so on the freeway, that's fine with me. For some reason giving up a little performance from what I'm used to in my car doesn't seem to bother me, the 240 seems so solid and comfortable and I love the classic square lines on it. Anyone care to tell me their experience ??

It is not that bad. I have an 82 244T it is non-intercooled so only pumps 5psi uncooled air. If you get an 83+ it will have an intercooler. it should have 160hp stock and if it is a stick, should be a nice DD. I will pump 12psi once I do add a big intercooler, then it should move a lot better. The 240's have descent handeling. Get some IPD springs and some KONI's or Bilstein HD's along with the Swaybar upgrade (IPD or two rear bars and a bigger front), or coilovers..... then it will be fun. be able to keep up with a BMW in the canyons!
My 91 745T use to be okay to drive, when it was stock. I have 15psi, chips, IC pipe upgrade, Custom CAI, and a 3"Turboback exhaust, and it moves pretty good now.
