Welcome to the Forum. You are correct about the keys. Being they are laser cut keys, you can only get them from the dealer and they need to be programmed to the car by the dealer.

As for repair costs, Volvos are luxury cars so you will pay luxury prices if you take the car to the dealer. The nice thing is a lot of the repairs are easy and you can do them yourself. We sell the parts at FCP and you can ask as many questions as you may have here to help you through the repairs.

If you need to go to the dealer to get the car fixed every time, then I would say you may have picked up the wrong car if you do not want to pay a lot for the repairs.

Welcome to the forum. Volvo's aren't cheap to own but if you take care of them they will run forever.
