Default High beams not staying on

Hi, 01 XC70 here. So I've read multiple posts and threads about the high beams and how to properly turn them on. I have the lights dial in the 12 o'clock position and pull the stalk to 4th position/all the way back (not position 3 for the dip/flash) however as soon as I release the stalk, I'm back to low beams. I've checked fuses under hood, in passenger compartment, and in the rear cargo area, all are fine. I live in the country and deers are out heavily now...kinda need my brights.

Volvos use a fairly complicated headlight relay that holds bright engaged when the lights are on but also allows you to flash to pass when the lights are off.

You could either figure out how the relay works, then use it as a location to troubleshoot the whole system, or you could just replace it and see what happens.

Where is the location on the relay, is it in fuse box under hood, or is it on the cem under the driver side dash? Is there a number on the relay?
