I'm new! S90 in Macon GA
I've never been a part of a forum community but have relied on posts from them for a long time. A few years ago I sold my 2007 Scion tC to buy a 1978 Toyota Pickup to learn how cars work and how to fix them. After a year I was burnt out from the pressure of keeping it running for my commute to work and sold it. Not too long later I wanted back in the game and bought a 1998 Volvo S90 to work on.
I feel like I know my way around an engine for the most part and have had a lot of success in my car projects... but there is still a lot to learn. I'll be posting a few of those experiences soon trying to help out the best I can!

First and foremost ! Has the timing belt been changed ? If you do not know ! REPLACE NOW ! This is the last of the true volvos ! It is also the best Volvo rear wheel drive ever made ! I own one bought three years old at purchase with 19500 miles ! I worked for Volvo dealers for thirty two years and own seven volvos ! As a parts manager after starting sweeping the floor , as a accessories installer in the late 80s a mechanic and then one of the top ten Volvo parts managers in the U.s. For eight of fifteen before being outsourced ! Trust me ! My wife's car now has 85000 miles ! Best volvo ever ! Volvoblueblood

Wow, you have quite a resume! Don't worry, I have a timing belt kit in the garage waiting to be installed, and I'm not planning on driving until I can get everything situated. I'll be installing my new sway bar links and bushings this weekend, but the belt will have to wait for another day when I can take my time and do it right. This car isn't my DD... yet. I need to clean up the bottom of the car and track down a really small oil leak too. I'll be posting any progress I make here in the forums.

Timing belt was a success! I thought I had a water pump gasket leak after the timing belt so I replaced the gasket and got the same leak... aarrrrgg. Ended up being the coolant hose at the top driver's side of the engine that I didn't connect all the way.
To date I've replaced the timing belt, pullies, tensioner, water pump, serpentine belt, sway bar links and bushings, breather box, cleaned intake manifold, coolant flush, spark plugs, and added a new coolant reservoir. Took it out for a spin today to get a full tank of gas and added some seafoam system cleaner. Next up: new brake pads and some interior work. My little dome light falls down and my center console hinge broke off. Oh! And my seat won't move forward or backward, but I've already gotten a tutorial. I have a small oil leak at the rear main seal, so I'm gonna add some ATP AT-205 to see if that will re-condition my gasket from sitting for a while. SOOOOO EXCITED TO CRUISE AROUND NOW!!!
