Legal alien and his 240 say hello!
Hi,
just moved to the US 2 weeks ago - and the first trip from the Chicago airport was a trip to some tata-neighbourhood looking at the
Volvo I was going to buy 2 days later (found it on craigslist).
Its 95% what I wanted!
245 - yay
Wagon - yay
manual - YAY!
its an 89 with 233k miles! (pretty much 1 family owned)
Outer shape is ok... has a few barely visible rust-spots, the paint has a few blind spots on the roof and chips in the front but is fine otherwise.
Interieur is fine - except for the drivers seat.
Technically its in pretty good conditon - was neglected a bit in the past 2.5yrs - but only a few miles were put on it in that time.
The well situated prev. owners bought ~1500$ parts at IPD (Bilsteins, strut braces etc etc...) and kept it running!
This is pretty much my first own car, I really depend on - cars I had in Germany were dorm cars or just fr fun beaters - I did not do anything on them!! (they just were not worth it) and the public transport there makes a car almost obsolete in some areas!
In short: Im a newbie to maintenance and repairs - expect a few dumb questions
,
but I am willing to learn and I LOVE my Volvo already too much to become lazy and uninterested!
Greetings to all here!
PS: If you need something EU parts or something from German Ebay etc.. I am willing to help
