Default Long time lurker here...

I've lurked the forums here for a while. I don't own a Volvo, but I do love them. My sister in laws 940 turbo has been rock solid, even though we abused it pretty bad for a while. We are a close family, myself, my wife, our daughter (now 3), wifes sister & mother. We all shared a home for a while & this was our only vehicle. Several hundred miles a week, sometimes over a thousand, and she held together fine. It's got a boat load of miles on it now, and is a bit beat up (Sis in law is a new driver, hasn't got the hang of garages yet.) but it's still a great little car.

Anyway, had to create an account to hunt a new head. I overheated this car badly last summer and had to have a few hundredths (Yes, I typed that correctly) machined off the head. I was lucky it wasn't cracked.

In the process of fixing this mistake, the sending unit for the temp gauge was damaged & I had ordered a new one on a couple of occassions, and kept getting the wrong part due to order picking issues (one was a sensor for a different model, the second one came in as a Ford IAC! Doh!)

Now, sis has overheated it because the temp gauge doesn't work and she forgot to check coolant regularly. Anyway, that's not important now. I'm trying to track down another head because no head will survive 2 overheating events of this magnitude.

I am a BMW guy because I fell in love with the e30s and built myself a turbo M20 head-swapped '90 325i running a Holset HX35 & MegaSquirt 2 (With help from a friend who is a real mechanic...) and about to get a boatload of suspension work done. By the math, it will be ~500 BHP when tuned properly. Going to the dyno in a couple months.

My wife has a '97 528i that I am nearly done bringing back from the dead with over 310K miles. It's had the whole top end & timing system, and transmission rebuilt as well as a host of other stuff with just a few odds and ends left.

Anyway, that's me!
