Hi guys, I've got a 2002 2.4 V70. It runs like clock work. Sometimes.... Every now and again it absolutely pisses out with bluey white smoke (a lot of smoke) then after a good hit of the right foot on an open road returns to normal. Someone has suggested that it could be the PCV filter that needs cleaning?!?!
Has anyone heard of this problem and is it fixable on the driveway? I'm pretty good with a spanner and screwdriver so not afraid to get dirty.

If your PCV system is completely plugged I could do that but not as much as you are saying. But it is a DIY job so go for it. There are plenty of instructional videos on how to do it. Many purple say to just down the box but I recommend replacing all parts along with cleaning the engine.
