Default My New Brick

Hello all,
I have used your forum to help with the acquisition of my latest ride, so I figured I should start off by saying thanks!

I recently sold off my 2008 Honda Civic, not because it's a bad car but because I only drive about 8000 miles a year, and it's not worth having a car payment for that. I've always loved 850s, and realized that now was my chance to get one.

I found a really rare example in the North Shore of Illinois. (Think Ferris Bueller's neighborhood.) Two owners, the second being a college professor.

So here's what I ended up with:
1996 850 Turbo wagon with the Platinum package and only 69000 miles. Service was all done at the same place (Hubbard Woods Motors) and records were examined. I also had a thorough pre purchase inspection performed, with the only major failure being a leaking CV boot that I'll have replaced this week. I'm also getting a new windshield as the current one is pretty scratched up, and a new set of tires. Other than that, I plan on keeping it pretty stock.

Driving the car home, the TRACS and ABS lights came on after hitting a bumpy patch of the road. I remember reading something about these, and maybe a sensor (?) and will search the board to solve that one.

Now, after driving it home, I have only one question... how do I open the fuel door? I looked all over the dash and through the owners manual, and it's not mentioned. I tried opening the door from the outside, but I felt like I was going to rip it off. Any one offering some help for a newbie?

Welcome to the forum.
The fuel door is supposed to be unlocked when the car is. If all the doors are unlocked and it will not open then the motor is bad most likely.

You can usually sneak behind the panel and get it to open.

Thanks Tech! I never thought to unlock all the doors. That made all the difference.
