Default n00b here

I am a n00b to the Volvo scene, but pretty big in the Subaru scene. Unfortunatly a bad tune lead to the death of my 400awhp 2004 Subaru WRX STi. So I sent the engine out to be rebuilt, handle more b00st and rev 1.5k more, and it will not be back for about a month due to a back order on the cams. [:@] I am currently driving my 1987 Buick Grand National around and two days ago we got our first real snow of the year. I decided that it was time to buy a winter car and put the GN away, should have been in storage in October but the subie's motor issue kept the car on the road.
I went out and test drove a few volvo's in the past couple days and found a 1997 850 T5 wagon with 141,800 miles on the clock for $4300. I will be picking up the car on monday. Been reading up on the cars and will be around here more often.
Here are some pictures of the GN and STi.

I only go to nasioc for classifieds and some tech, otherwise that site is pretty much filled with asshats. So I usually stick to wrxfanatics.com and allwheeljunkies.com, much more laid back and fun sites.

Just talked to the dealer and I am picking the car up monday afternoon. [sm=happy046.gif]

Definatly check out wrxf. It isn't wrx only, there is subie tech, great videos, great kill/losses, and laid back.

As a n00b question, what is the general consensus on gutting the factory cat for performance (MI dosn't have inspections)?

I have heard of many people doing it.

But some have had luck with it not throwing a Check Engine light.
But some always get the light.
