New 2001 V70 T5 Owner from Southern Oregon
I just got a 2001 Volvo V70 T5 wagon with an automatic transmission. It was a friend's car. It has 205K and in really good shape inside and out. He had it for the last 10 years. He just had the transmission replaced, the AC serviced, and new front struts/bushings all done by a Volvo dealer in July. Drove it home from Portland and got almost 28mpg.
It's a really nice driving car. I've had 2 Volvo's before. I had a 73 144 sedan in high school and my parents bought a 1976 245 wagon brand new and we kept it in the family for 20 years.
I picked it up last weekend and so far I've replaced a taillight bulb, the cargo bulb and replaced the dipstick, because it was missing the red handle...I didn't want to use needle nose pliers like my friend did. I also need to replace the hood hydraulic lift dampers, they don't hold the hood up anymore.
I have a little buzzing in the climate control panel, which I've researched and it sounds like its a recirc fan....I'll dig into that lter this weekend.
I am thinking the engine oil was likely changed at the dealer when the transmission was replaced in July...but I'd kinda like to do an oil change to set a baseline.
I look forward learning as much as I can from the knowledge of the forum.
