Default new 99 c70 hpt owner.....

Hello all,

I hope everyone is doing well. This is the first forum I have ever done... I have a lot of questions about my car with no one really to ask but the dealer and they are of no real use for what I want to do. I have a 99 black c70 hpt. I love it. It has some issues which I wll get to. The first question which I hope you guys can get to is intake.... I want to put a less restricive intake....paricularly a k&n... will one built for the s70 work.... its the same engine the t5 engine.... here is the link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VOLVO...spagenameZWDVW

for one its cheap, will it work? and will it effect the sensors (oxygen and so on), will the check engine light turn on as i was told by one of the service technicians....(i think he is clueless)

please help me out....

regards....

Its cheap and will sound nice but will highly likely upset the car, I fitted one to my last C70 and the MAF sensor didnt like it at all so had the engine management light on all the time, it did sound excellent though but when warm was noticeably slower when the warning light was off.

hey,

thanks for the input.... im not in with the lingo so in laymen's terms: what does this mean:?

"but when warm was noticeably slower when the warning light was off. "

do u mean when the car is hot and the light is off its slower with the new intake?

please clarify..... but thanks all the same

I have a 1999 S70 awd, with an LPT engine. I had a K&N cone filter on my MAF no problems. I wouldn't buy that one on Ebay, just get the filter from Advanced Auto Parts and slap it on your MAF. Hell you can use a cheaper filter will do the same thing. Or if you feel like spending the cash, go with EST's intake setup. However you should fab a heatshield if you opt not for EST's intake. Because you will be sucking in a lot of hot air. That is why I went back to the stock setup.

It will make a decent sound, but not too loud.

LPT and HPT engines are completely different, I tried at least 3 different types of cone intakes for the HPT and everyone upset the MAF so it wouldnt work properly.

What I was saying if its hot outside as in the air temp and the car was running o.k with the cone filter, i.e the warning light was not on then the car would be slower anyway than with the standard air intake so not really much point going with one.

If their cheap then by all means give one a go but dont expect any extra BHP and if the warning light comes on throw it in the bin!

Yes I know that LPT and HPT engines are different. However it should do anything. I know a lot of people with HPT engines with no problems. It was probably something else wrong.
