Hi! I was just looking at this forum because I have a problem with the Volvo that I just bought.

Last week bought a 1991 Volvo 240 which was in excellent shape until I backed in into a post in my driveway that I didn't see. The left rear bumbper caved in and the taillight broke. The hood is fine. Any suggestions as to what I could could do before I have it towed away? I bought it for $1500 and a repair place said it would be $2500 to repair it. Thanks.

You should be able to get it fixed for alot less than that.

Or bang it out enough to get a new tail light in it and keep driving it.

 

You can also always look at a junkyard for the body parts. They may not be pretty, but they should have the functionality of an undamaged piece.

 

When I first got my 91 245, one of the taillights were broken. So i went to the junk yard, and found the exact car, same color but with ABS. So I took out all the parts i needed, including a set of taillights! Now, im thinking about putting the turbo 240 alloy wheels on my car. But its going to be hard to find them in the junk yard too !

 

I forgot to post that, I was a apprentice at a volvo independent shop. it was fun working there. however they didnt want me to work there anymore because of slow business.. i would love to work on volvos everyday again but ill see.
