Default New Member 1995 960 Wagon

Hi, great forum. I just bought a 1995 960 Wagon 252,371 miles. This is my first Volvo. My previous car was a 95 Ford Escort wagon. There was a similar forum for Escorts which had lots of useful information. Hope to find the same here.

Welcome to VF. You will definitely find a lot of help information and help people here. Probably more helpful even.

Anyway, post up some pictures of the 960 when you get a chance.

So step number one. What type of oil should I use as Spring starts here in New England. Should I go with a high mileage oil since there is over 200,000 miles on the car?

Do you know that the previous owner has been using? If so, I would keep using that. Personally, I feel the high mileage oil is a waste of money because it is not much better then dino oil. Also, if the P.O. was using dino oil and you switch to high mileage or synthetic, you can cause leaks as the oil will clean out a lot of the oil sludge in the engine.
