Hi all,

Just bought a new to me '07 S80 AWD V8 in White pearl. Took it for a long drive this past weekend and wow, this car is amazing! The adaptive cruise control is very cool. There are a lot of bells and whistles on it so I've been studying the manual but most of it, including the Nav system, is pretty intuitive. Fun car so far.

Anyway, I've been snooping around this forum for a while doing research on the S80 model. I learned a lot on here and that is why I joined up. See you all around. Thanks.

John

Hey John, Welcome.

I have not heard of the adaptive cruise, how does that work?

Welcome to VF. I did not realize the S80 had Adaptive Cruise Control. Also, post up some pictures when you get a chance.

It's pretty slick. You set the speed you want to maintain, and then you set the number of car lengths you want to be behind the car in front of you (you can adjust the distance). So, say you set it for 70mph. If a car pulls in front of you going 60mph, the S80 will slow to 60mph. Then the S80 matches the speed of that car and will accelerate or decelerate accordingly. When the car in front moves aside, the S80 will speed back up to 70mph. You can actual drive for miles without placing your foot on the gas or brake. It’s pretty cool stuff.

I hope to get pictures up soon, fcpgroton.
Thanks for the welcome.
John
