Greetings from the wet west coast of Canada
Just signed up, though I have owned a Volvo before. I was on XC70 forums, but got tired of throwing money and time at a real P.O.S.
Scored a nice rust free 740 Estate at a small auction for $500 CDN pesos ( thats like 3 Franklins in translation). Previous owners took fairly good care of it, but since it was a trade-in it was dumped to auction right away & no detailing had been done. Can tell that previous owners had white haired dogs, did a lot of outdoorsey stuff, and likely parked under a tree.
Have always wanted a wagon of that generation, and am pretty happy with this buy. I could have probably ignored all the small issues and drove it for months or years with minimal fixes, other than water intrusion, but just can't help myself. i would have preferred a turbo 5 spd, but would have had to spend a lot more than my allowance. Maybe next year
I have already posted a few pics and notes on my water leak issue & fixes in the 700 subforum.
I have a lot of small repairs planned that I will detail in the next while. I have tinkered on cheap beaters for over 30 years, and can often find cheap/free fixes for those of us with more time than money or brains.
cheers
Ken
