New S60 owner
Hi, my name is Lynn, I'm a 54 year old guy.
I just put a deposit on an 08 S60 AWD, with everything but nav system
(premium, climate, advanced).
Found it at my local dealer, it was one of their service loaners, never previously owned. It has 12K miles, Willow Green.
This will be my wife's DD and our highway cruiser.
Looking forward to the comfort and fuel economy; we're coming out of 12 years with a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, V8. It's been good to us except for fuel, but it's getting long in the tooth.
While shopping, we found so many new cars simply oberpriced for what you get, or with still poor fuel ecomomy. And plenty that are 5-year cars... the kind that after 5 years you just can't wait to get rid of.
We're 10+ year car people. We looked for a car that isn't an SUV (don't need two utility vehicles), has good fuel economy, is comfortable, has all the amenities, looks good and is reliable... in our price range. It wasn't easy to find... but I think we got a winner!
This is our first Volvo. I'm looking forward to learning more about this car and the product line from the knowledgeable people here. I'm planning to keep this car stock.
I'm a Jeep guy, I've completely rebuilt/modified a '71 CJ5 for a combination of serious offroading, but still streetable... kept it for 16 years then sold it to a buddy in '07. My DD/weekend warrior now is an 05 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, which I've modified with a 3" lift and 33" mud terrain tires, among many other changes.
In my time, I've owned 11 Jeeps, and I'm sure there's a few more out there with my name on them
I'll never give up my Jeep addiction, but it will be nice to have a refined car again, after so many years of "trucks"...
BTW, if anyone here is a fan of old Jeep iron, I'm active on a family and tech oriented forum for old CJs
www.earlycj5.com/forums
If Jeeps are your thing too, check it out!
We pick up our S60 next Wednesday evening.
I'm looking forward to learning alot on these forums.
