Just saying hi for my first post. Ive been researching used 740, 940, and 960 models online for quite some time now. Im really in the market for a 740 wagon 5speed, turbo ofcourse! I know the 940 and 960 models are only all automatic. Am I correct? Im also only interested in the rear wheel drive platforms. Im looking forward to being an active member in the volvo community! I was at first interested in a Volkswagen Passat Wagon but I hear nothing but horrible reviews of these cars. Seems like even an older, well maintained Volvo would be the way to go.

Im flying out to New Jersey from Detroit just to test drive a 1990 740 turbo sedan, 5 speed. Its got 188k miles on it. Guy is asking 2700. IS that a fair price for that mileage? I plan to make him an offer. Ive seen numerous pictures of the car, its a brilliant white color with black cloth interior and looks great otherwise. He says there is no piston slap but it does have a small oil leak from the rear main seal. He also says its common with these engines. Can this small leak turn into a bigger problem down the road. It also needs a headliner. What do you think is a fair offer? Anything I should specificly look for as I take the test drive? Ive tried to post a picture but I just cant get it to post.
