Default Newb from WV

I just bought my first Volvo yesterday. It's a 2004.5 S40 T5. It's a wonderful car and is a blast to drive. It need a few minor things, but overall is in great shape. Anything I should check into before I start driving it everyday? I already changed oil, oil filter, and air filter. I might have the tranny flushed and new fluid put in just for piece of mind.

That's good... Check your plugs, air filter and coils. Besides that sounds like you are ready to go! Hop over to the S40 section for more content for your car. Welcome!

If you are approaching 75K miles and the timing belt has not been changed I would get that done. Welcome.

Welcome to the forum.

If not done this time, try full synthetic oil from the next oil change. Turbocharged engines do benefit from using full synthetic oil.

When you change the tranny fluid, make sure to choose the right shop. If you don't know which shop is right, rive up some extra $ at a dealer. The tranny can go south if wrong type of fluid is introduced into the system.

When you need to replace parts, spend extra $ for genuine OEM parts. You can get the same parts used at dealers, if you find on-line vendors at a lot less cost. FCP Groton is one of our favourites.

Enjoy your ride,

Thanks for the replies guys. It's got 120k on it. Not sure if the timing belt has been changed. One thing it needs is the A/C compressor. The clutch is going out of it and I figure the compressor will probably go soon after I put a new clutch on it so I'll just get the whole new thing.
