Default Newbie on the Block - New to Volvo in General!

Where do I start? First off I am going to try and keep this somewhat short and not bore you all with every little useless detail of my life. Well, my name is Cameron, I am 29 years old and have always been a fan of Ford's and Lincoln's in general. However, growing up in a household with a father whom was employed for and now retired from General Motors and coming from a town where the majority of my friends and their families were similar or fans of Chevy's, Pontiac's, Cadillac's, etc got me much criticism in my younger teenage years. Therefore my first 4 cars were Chevrolet's. Then I purchased a 01 Ford Mustang GT and an 03 Ford Explorer Sport Trac (both of which I still own). This past weekend I purchased my first Volvo! A 1999 S80 and I absolutely love it! I have attached a link below to my cardomain site so you can see pics of the Volvo as well as my other cars. I look forward to chatting with you all soon.

Sincerely,

Killa Cam

Welcome to the forum.

What made you purchase an S80?

If it isn't the T6 don't plan on many engine upgrades it wont be worth it.

No, it's not a T6, I'm not looking for any major performance upgrades for it. I purchased it mainly for my fiance. I read that they are one of the safest cars and we have a 4 month old baby girl so saftey was on top of the list when purchasing her a car. I saw one at the dealership, I liked the looks (always have), it was in near mint condition and I got a hell of a price on it by paying cash. She liked it as well so we test drove it came back and paid! Myself having an 01 Mustang GT for my performance car and my Explorer Sport Trac for my everyday truck wasn't used to all the cool little options this car has. So now I feel we have a luxury car as well. Sure it's not the best car in the world, but we really love this thing!

BTW: S70driver, I like the looks of your ride. Is that the T6 model? I like the ground effect down low, is that stock or afermarket? Sorry for my ignorance to Volvo's this is my first and I am still learing about them.

I don't own an s80. I own an s70 awd.

The T6 was only in the s80 and I believe it is in the XC90 models now too.

*However mine is turbocharged.

The ground effects are aftermarket made by HEICO made for the 98-00 70 series models only.

HEICO does make some s80 parts, check them out here.

All it is, is the front spoiler flaps. Kind of like mine.

No problem.

Expect to pay a lot of money for them.

I got mine on sale through IPD USA for $275 they retail at other sites for over $300 and I do believe I saw them for about $500 too. Mine that is and I am sure yours will be the same way.
