Hello, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a purchasing a new S60 T5 FWD for August delivery. This will be my first Volvo, beautiful car. I've had a Mercedes ML320 for the past 10yrs and have had real good luck with that vehicle, a few minor quirks but pretty much normal maintenance for 170,000 miles.

I'm planning on milking this Volvo for a long time too, was hoping to get some feedback re reliability. My main concern is if corporate profitability has forced them to cut corners on quality in the newer generation vehicles. I browsed the S60 forum, looks like there were serious tranny issues during the Ford years but those seemed to have been fixed.

On a related issue, are they still using a lot of Ford parts on the new models?

Welcome to VF, you so need to pull the plug already. You will not regret it. The new T6 engine in the S60 is fantastic.
