Welcome......
Parts will be harder to find for a 97 960.
Check here for a bunch of aftermarket/OEM sites: https://volvoforums.com/forum/general-volvo-chat-5/volvoforums-resources-thread-7317/

I can only address the audio part of your issue. Lemme guess. Not much money. Right? Well, high-end brand names are overrated and overpriced. Optimally, you can install a multi-band equalizer with a modest power amp. The EQ will do more for your sound than anything else. I had cheap aftermarket speakers professionally installed (b/c I didn't want to mess with it) in the doors of my 91 240. But, I also had them run speaker wires to the rear deck so I can install 6X9s in boxes later. (They wanted $280 - $180 for the speakers and $100 for the boxes. I can buy a pair of boxes for $30 and no-name triaxial 6x9s for about $50.) Good luck.

Having always valued the audio system in my vehicles, I continue to be amazed by my stock 98 V70 system. The acoustics in a station wagon help, but it is still really better than much more expensive and newer vehicles I've owned. Mostly, I think it is the really nice midrange and balance even at higher volumes. There's quite a bit of info here regarding different sound systems that came in volvos. Depending on what you've got already and want, that might be a really cheap alternative to check out.
