Not sure
Hi all
Im thinking about buying a 2004.5(2.4 L 5-cylinder) S40 for a great price.Only problem is the owner says the ECU light is on and it only needs a reset.Says he changed the battery and it
came on.IS THIS POSSIBLE OR JUST ANOTHER SCAM?

You can reset the service interval light but need an OBD2 code reader to view and reset the check engine codes. Autozone and a few of the big box parts stores will view/reset codes for you (or rent you a reader), as will some friendly indy mechanics. If its as easy as a reset, then you should ask the seller to stop by a shop and get it cleared or at least tell you what codes were found to help you decide.
