The forums have saved me a few times. And again today.
The car went into limphome mode and wouldn't idle worth beans, missing and dying. Max RPM was limited to 2500 - and at that it ran smoothly, which was a little confusing. It seemed like an Electronic Throttlebody Module (ETM) issue. I'd just had that rebuilt last year and thought maybe I'd not seated the plug well. But that wasn't it. After checking a fuse or two and odds and ends I checked the forums.
A post on similar issues advised to check ALL the fuses - and that was it. The diagram I was using did not represent my car. Turns out the 10A fuse (11B/21) for the Throttle Control Module (TCM) was blown. Replaced it and was back in business for the cost of a fuse.
My mistake was not realizing the owners manual lists all the fuses and their functions. I was using a PDF version of Volvo's "Service Manual, Cars, Section 3(39) Wiring Diagram, S80 2000 Early Version, TP 3944202" that has been the best I've been able to find for my wiring. Now I know it isn't an exact fit.
Compare to tow, shop $$$ for whatever, rental car. I was estimating $500 - $1000 for all.
Thanks to the people who take their time to share their knowledge! I've saved lots of time, money, trouble on other issues thanks to the forums.
