Default Passenger Door

Help!! My 2006 passenger door is stuck locked, it won’t open from the inside or outside. I’ve managed to get the door panel off but really don’t know where to begin to get it open.

Okay, now that you have the panel COMPLETELY, off right? As in unattached and removed from the vehicle, you'll see the door latch cable which looks this:

Latch cable. pull the cable (on the opposite end of the actual door latch) toward you, and the door will open.

The cable portion that is in the bottom of this photo is what you'll pull to open the door.

Ok I’ve tried this but it doesn’t budge, I can hear the actuator clicking?

Are you pulling the actual cable that is within the plastic piece on the end of the cable in the photo? You have to pull on the cable, and not the plastic. If this doesn't work, follow the cable to the door lock module (it's where the cable originates within the door.) You'll find the actual actuator for the door lock on the door lock module. push up and down. That should do it.

That's great! I'm happy to have helped.

You should also scan your car for codes. If you have codes for your passenger door module(s), you most likely will need to replace the entire latch module in the door. They often fail in a vehicle of this age. You may also see ongoing, intermittent voltage too high/low in locking/unlocking signal codes.

This can mean a bad module, or faulty wiring. Usually it's a bad module, but I have seen wires get pinched in the door gusset.

Default doors and hatch

I have a late 2022 Volvo V60 wagon with a persistent but intermittent problem. The doors lock up and won't let me in from the outside. Usually it's the driver's door but all 4 have the issue. If I'm inside the car the switch on the driver's door will not unlock to let in a passenger. The hatch pops open while driving down the highway. While parked, it has come down on the heads of 3 people trying to get things out of the trunk. It has not been activated by the foot switch. There seems to be no sensor to stop the hatch before it hits the back of my head. (unlike my garage door which stops for a leaf 3 feet away.) 3 times when I have used the hatch button to close it, the door has only come down 1/3 way and had to be pulled down to close. The dealer has now had my car for over 3 weeks trying to troubleshoot. I am aware that this meets MD lemon law but I'd like to know if anyone else is having this problem or has a solution. Thanks.

Default Passenger door

Hello, my passenger door issue turned out to be a broken wire in the door loom.
