Default re-newed volvo fan

i had an 89 240 a couple of years ago with about a million miles on it that never ever left me stranded (although we did limp home a couple of times). recently i've gotten into air cooled vw buses which, after only a year and a half or so of that i've had enough. away go the buses, back is the mighty volvo. as a former mechanic i've had the chance to drive and work on a whole lot of vehicles and have always been impressed with the 240,244,245 cars. so, as soon as i can get rid of this last veedub i'm getting another volvo. have a question about the turbo cars though since i've not really heard good or bad on them what do you guys think? the last volvo i had was non turbo and i thought it pulled o.k. not a sports car by any means but not too bad. i ask about the turbo because this time i'm going to try to get a 240 wagon, i've heard the wagons are noticeably weaker than the sedans and that turbo is a must. how dependable are these turbos? about how many miles do they last? anything turbo related i should pay close attention to when looking at these cars?

On most 240 turbo's with really high milage I have seen they have had to replace the turbo once.Make sure the oil looks clean and there is no sludge in the engine.
