Volvo 01 V70XC eng. fan doesn't shut off
The engine fan (directly behind the radiator) on my car will normally run a few minutes after engine shutdown if it's hot (to protect the turbo), but today it would not shut down at all. Eventually the battery discharged to the point that the starter would not engage. I suspect there's a stuck relay somewhere, but I can't find it. I removed every relay in the engine compartment fuse box and the one behind the left taillight--none made a difference. Can anyone help?

Im not sure exactly sure where you live. Here in the U.S. there is a recall on those fans for that reason.Either they stay running or dont come on at all.Contact your local dealer and have them run your VIN # and see if your car is under warranty. There is a little black box mounted on the fan that is what goes bad.Check into that and let me know how you make out.

Thanks. I printed up the fan recall document from the NHTSA site. The dealer is replacing the defective parts under warranty.
I was suprised by the other problems found on this car with only 60,000 miles. An upper engine mount needs replacing (replaced once before two years ago), a lower transmission mount needs replacement, and some turbo oil seals need replacing (replaced once before also). The lower front control bushings were also replaced once before. Are these indicative of the current reliability of Ford vehicles?
