Recently my trans went out I found one on car-part and I only plan to daily the car until spring , basically my question is how much should labor alone be to take out the current transmission install the new one just so I can know what to expect/not get overcharged.

Volvos WARRANTY time (from their standard times guide) is about 7 hours. My shop would not install a customer supplied used and known to fail GM transmission. There are too many things that can go wrong - and if any do - from the customers view point it will be my fault and they will tell any one that will listen how I ripped them off.
I would not install a transmission I sell in that car for 7 hours either.

Most shops need the profit on both parts and labor to be able to do things like - pay everyone fairly, pay workman's comp and liability insurance, offer reasonable benefits to the employees such as health insurance, vacation and retirement programs - the list goes on.

You might find a shop that will do it for you - good luck.
