Shift Lock Issues
I have a 200; V70 with just over 100,000 miles on the clock.
it has started having shift lock problems. First, it locked in the D/N location and wouldn’t go into R and sometimes it locks in P and won’t move from there. I’ve managed to eventually get it working for a while (hours) but then it happens again. I can’t find any information that describes all the shift lock mechanisms but I’ve pick up on 3 so far, Ignition On which moves a cable attached to a small yellow cylinder/block thing and that slides forward and back, a switch on the brake (I haven’t yet seen what that does) and the button on the gear **** it’self. So far, the ignition lock seems to be working and, because the problems seem to be with the button (I noticed it seems to be swinging out more than before so I can feel the gap underneath. If I’m correct this seems to be the cheapest thing to fix but I’d really like to find a diagrammatic description of how the whole system works
