Default So I bought me my first Volvo today...

I am now the proud owner of a brand spankin' new caper green 2010 XC70. I ordered it back in October, it set sail across the pond in November, and finally made its way to my dealership over the weekend. Now that the dealer did its thing with it and I signed the paperwork earlier this evening, I can start my new life as a Volvo owner.

Because I'm **** like that, I had downloaded the manual a few weeks ago and have been reading it religiously ever since. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but it's not like this hasn't been a pattern in my life. I'm far from a 'car guy,' I just like knowing everything about a new toy I purchase.

Ha, I think a few of us on here have heard that once or twice! I heard that when I sold my Honda Accord and picked up my 850 and every one of my friends though II was "crazy" for buying a Volvo...... It is what it is. Have fun with the XC, I'm sure you will drive down the road and crack that smile we all do when were behind the wheel of our Volvo..... Welcome to the forum!

That's sweet. I think it would make the driving the car so much more personal knowing that it was delivered just for you. PICTURES PLEASE!

gil: Yeah, the ordering was a fantastic experience. We had ordered cars in the past from Ford/Mercury, and that's exciting too, but nothing matches the anticipation of the car coming from overseas. We tracked down when it left, what ship it was on, what port it arrived at and when, etc.. Plus, this is a bit more of an investment than any of our other cars, so it means a little more.

We have already decided that when we buy another Volvo, we will be heading over there and do the overseas delivery route. We simply ordered it this time because it was cheaper this way and we needed it by New Year's to guarantee the tax break.

I'll take a picture of it at some point, but I leave before it gets light and am home after it's dark again, so chances really only come on the weekend. But I'll get around to it eventually.
