<sticks head in and looks around>
Hello VF people -
I am not a Volvo owner, but I have been helping a friend maintain her 850 for a number of years. I haven't tackled any big jobs, but I've learned a few things. I used to get information from www.brickboard.com, but the last few times I was there the format was really screwy.
Anyway, the 850 is biting the dust and she is looking for an S70. I'm here to find out about their issues, so I can help with the purchase. Ultimately, I'm sure I will be hanging around looking for help with something or other.
This seems like a good, helpful place. I look forward to learning a lot here and contributing when I can.

Welcome.
The S70 is basically a facelifted 850. They all share the same problems.
But the 99 and 2000 S70 has an electronic throttle body which is kind of junk.
If you can steer her towards a 98 S70.

I will try seaches first to answer some other questions that I have. If that doesn't work, I will post on the S70 forum.
I am trying to help her buy the best car that she can afford, knowing that any problems with it down the line will be my problems too.

attached are a couple of pics of the S70 that my friend is buying.
Since she will forever be totally clueless, I can look forward to years ahead dealing with maintenance on this car. I am hoping that she bought well.
