Default Subaru guy who just bought a Volvo...

Hello all. Just picked up a 96 850 turbo. Normally I'm a massive Subaru guy but money wise they just don't make sense and my 96 Impreza is slow and rotting away. So I just picked up an 850 for super cheap. Loving it so far. The Subaru is getting demoted to winter beater and the 850 will be my money sink. Would've preferred rear drive or awd, but for the price I'm not going to complain too much. I essentially bought an engine with a car attached. The t5 is phenomenal. I have big plans for this car, unfortunately maintenance is priority. So getting a new turbo first, the current one is 155k miles old and puking oil. Before getting the boost turnt up I'll be rebuilding the engine. Anywho, loving the car, it's more comfy than the chair I'm sitting in typing this. Looking forward to learning the ins and outs of Volvo's!

Edit: I was going to buy a z31 but the camera car for the ride to the Toronto Subaru Club Hypermeeting was an 850 turbo wagon and I loved it.

Nice decision, and welcome. I too came from the Subaru world and bought a newer version of what you have ('98 S70 T5).

I came from an '04 STi though and wondered if anyone else had done the same thing. Driving this is worlds different from my STi. I will miss my winter time drift sessions on the way to and from work once the snow starts falling, but so far am happy with my decision to pick up a Volvo.

Hi guys, welcome to the forum.

Check and replace the heater core if you have not done so already.
