trailer hitch
Hi,
I have a 2020 xc60 inscription that we purchased last spring. We wanted a trailer hitch as we were looking to buy a travel trailer in the not too distant future. We were told that we had to have the electronic hitch put on by Volvo as any other hitch would void the warranty still on the vehicle. We have decided on a small travel trailer, dry weight of 2600 lbs and a tongue weight of 320 lbs. The trailer dealer recommended that we have a weight distribution kit. However, the electronic hitch is a 1 1/4" receiver and they do not make a 1 1/4: kit and it is apparently nit recommended as the 1 1/4" hitches are Class II and a Class III is recommended for towing a trailer even a small travel trailer. I talked to one of the mechanics at Volvo in Halifax NS and he said that he has never come across this. I then talked to the salesman that sold us the vehicle and he said that he has had client towing trailers and never had an issue. If I add a 1 1/4" to 2" converter to accept the 2" weight distribution kit, it lengths the hitch length and will apparently decreased the towing capacity and Tongue weight.
Has anyone else has this issue? Are there any other solutions aside from putting on a new hitch and voiding the warranty?
Thanks
PGR

Who told you an after market hitch voids the warranty? Did you read the warranty to see what would make it void? Seems that as long as you don't exceed the tow rating for your model you should be ok but best to do your own research online first. I bet if you talk to a web store like etrailer.com they'd have some info on warranties etc.
