Talking Twice In One Month!

I made the leap this month, twice. About 3 weeks ago I swapped out a Honda Accord for a 2015 S60 T5; and haven't looked back. I love it! To have a little more fun I also picked up a 1999 C70 T5 Convertible two days ago; which will be my winter project.

I'm a little bit of a car guy, but brand new to Volvo. From what I can find, the 1999 C70 Convertible T5 is uncommon... but how uncommon? It is definitely the 2.3/M56. 123K - and in need of some love. Brake and suspension rebuild is underway, and I've removed the rats nest out of the breather box. With luck the nest was the reason I'm getting a booster sensor code. I have lots to learn about older Volvos as this one is exhibiting many of the faults that owners write about... but I"m hoping that being a T5 will make it worth the effort.

Does anyone happen to know how many 1999 C70 T5 Convertibles made it to the U.S. market?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Any pics to share? No, I don't know how rare they are.

No pictures yet. I quickly put in the garage and yanked the brakes and suspension. My wife won't go near it, nor let the kids near it until we believe it is safe on the road... so hopefully it will be back on the road this weekend, and perhaps some pics to follow.

Finished the first round of repair/maintenance last night. The car is back on the road with new disk, pads and calipers, and complete new front suspension. Wow! Even though I only used OEM equivalents, it was well worth the effort. It will get new tires and an alignment this weekend, and then hopefully it will be on the road for a couple of months before the snow its the midwest.

No pictures yet - but soon now that it is out of the garage.

I'm grateful for the many how to videos that enthusiasts have posted.

3 weeks later we are back on the road. Replaced so far:
Pads and Rotors all around
2 calipers
front passenger brake line
right and left control arms
outer tie rods
All ball joints
struts/springs/mounts front
rear shocks
rack and pinion boot
4 tires - BF Goodrich G Force
alignment
timing belt and water pump
radiator flush
TCV
cabin filter (removed mice nest)
air filter (removed mice nest)
right headlight glas
right mirror
1 tail light bulb

I'm sure I"m forgetting something else.

Other than the supentine belt, about everything on the car looked to be original.

Next up:
fix ABS control module
Sea Foam engine
Oil change

I'm putting off hose replacements until next Spring.

I'm quite happy with how everything went. The timing belt went easier than I expected, and the rear shocks were much harder than I expected.

Hoping to put a few miles on it before the snow flies in Chicagoland.
